The Scientific Evidence for the Origin of the Universe Proves the Bible Is Right?

A booming and massive sound, as in the loudest thunderclap that one could ever imagine sending shockwaves throughout the universe that if planets had already existed, they would all fall off their axes. That is how I previously perceived the big bang theory. That a sudden and massive bang took place, and the exquisite complexities of the universe and life spontaneously emerged. The above notion is precisely why I never considered the big bang theory complementary to the Scriptures, thus adding credibility to the truth of God.

Shockingly, “there was no actual “explosion” in the way we think of something exploding like a bomb.”1 Instead, “the bang was an exquisitely fine-tuned expansion.” It was just that it was all happing all at once. One imagines a “floodgate” severs as decent imagery of the Big Bang. A basic definition includes,

“a gate that can be opened or closed to admit or exclude water, especially the lower gate of a lock. A last restrain holding back an outpouring of something powerful or substantial.” 2

Once the initial gush of “something” powerful or substantial, the gate is “opened or closed to admit or exclude” that which is powerfully and substantially gushing out. Something or someone is behind the rapid expansion and the adjustment. In the beginning, God created everything, and it gushed.3 Afterwards, there was no need for rapid expansion but a controlled, slow and steady pace. Hubble’s discovery of the galaxies moving away from each other, Einstein’s general theory of relativity, and the density of the Radio Galaxies and quasars, among others, provide scientific evidence of a beginning point and slowing expansion from said beginning.

Science historian Simon Singh explained, “If the universe has existed for eternity, then there was no need to explain how it was created.. when…why…or who created it…a theory of the universe that no longer relied on invoking God.”4 However, “scientists came to realise that the universe had a beginning…a point referred to as the big bang.

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” 5

Scientific evidence for a beginning is mounting. The jarring revelation to too many scientists was that an absolute beginning to our universe pointed to something outside of physical reality that started everything…”6 “For by Him all things were created, in Heaven and on Earth, visible and invisible….”7 Physicist Hawking, though utterly displeased with the fact that the universe has a beginning because of the Biblical implications, ended up proving such beginning with their “space-time theorems of general relativity.”8

Space-Time Theorems of General Relativity

Penrose, a renowned mathematician and physicist, said, “This makes Einstein’s general relativity, in this particular sense, the most accurately tested theory known in science.”9 “Big Bang theories all acknowledge that the cause of the big bang all transcends the universe. Essentially, whatever brought or caused the universe to be is not a part of it. It is outside of it.”10 Interestingly, Jesus confessed just that, “Now, Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.”11 Hundreds of years before the verse above, the Scripture made that very declaration that God is transcendent. “Before the mountains were born Or You gave birth to the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.”12

Interestingly, some scientists say “the transcendent is a “being” while others say it is the multiverse.”13 But how could it be the multiverse when it did not exist before the big bang?

“Recently, astrophysicists performed a brand new test for general relativity to add to the dozen plus that already have been performed. They measured the precession (the slow circular movement or wobble of the spin axis relative to a fixed frame of reference) of the rapidly spinning pulsar (an extremely dense, massive star that emits relativistic pulses of intense radiation) PSR B1534+12. The measured precession was consistent with the predictions of general relativity. Thus, the biblical cosmic creation model has successfully passed another test.”

In conclusion, the Biblical witness has proven more than credible that its claims are true and stands unmoved in the face of scientific discoveries about the universe’s origins. As stated earlier, scientific evidence for a beginning is mounting, and the Bible was the first to make the declaration.
